Citation vs. source
A citation is a source an AI answer shows to the reader, as a link or chip; a source in the wider sense is any page the engine read to write the answer, shown or not.
Cited and retrieved
Engines with web search read more pages than they show. kennt.ai stores both: cited pages (visible in the answer) and retrieved pages (read, not shown). Both matter: a page that is read often shapes answers even without a link.
Why sources decide visibility
If the pages AI reads for a question list your competitors and not you, the answer usually does the same. These pages are your shortlist for PR and partnerships.
Your own site as a source
“Used as source” is the share of answers that cite or retrieve one of your own pages. It shows whether AI trusts your site for facts, separately from whether it recommends you.
Example numbers: Neobanks in the UK, 31 Oct – 2 Nov 2026; real measurement, Revolut is not a kennt.ai customer.
